Parenting Courses and Workshops

M&O’s bespoke Mentoring and Coaching service provides 1-1 Parent Coaching sessions, Parent Workshops and Parenting Courses which help parent/carers strengthen and further develop their parenting skills, cultivate interdependency and foster long-lasting change.

Over a designated period of time, M&O Parent Coaches and Associates journey with parents and provide them with a 'Tool Kit' of parenting strategies. They use evidence-based approaches that can help build parent’s confidence, strengthen relationships, transform families and promote positive change. Ultimately enabling parents to provide healthy, loving home environments, which will lead to healthy, successful children who go on to make positive contributions to their schools, colleges and communities. 
 

M&O 1-1 Coaching Sessions
M&O 1-1 Coaching Sessions are led by trained coaches and usually last for 1hr 30minutes.   The 1-1 sessions are for parent/carers who are interested in strengthening a particular area of their parenting skills i.e. setting clear boundaries, establishing household rules, delegating responsibilities, managing challenging behaviour and supporting your child’s learning.  Coaches provide a safe space for parents, which helps them feel more open to exploring a more positive parenting approach. Parent/carers are equipped with a parenting approach that builds confidence, promotes consistency and enables life-long change.

These 1-1 sessions are also for parent/carers who have been referred by a professional service to attend a parenting course in order to develop or strengthen a more positive parenting approach. Sessions share strategies and tools from the following Parenting Courses; Incredible Years - Webster Stratton (School Age Basic), Parenting Your Teen In Manchester, Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (3-16yrs) and Parents As Partners

M&O’s 3hr bespoke ‘Parent Workshops’ are facilitated by fully experienced Parent Coaches. The workshops are for parent/carers who are interested in strengthening a particular area of their parenting skills. The workshops are also for parent/carers who have been referred by a professional service to attend a parenting course in order to develop or strengthen a more positive parenting approach. Workshops share strategies and tools from the following Parenting Courses; Incredible Years - Webster Stratton (School Age Basic), Parenting Your Teen In Manchester, Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (3-16yrs) and Parents As Partners.

The bespoke workshops will support parents to become course ready, enable parents to gain an insight to what Parenting Courses cover and help parents to identify the benefits of attending / completing a course. The workshop will also highlight the need for parent/carers to engage with outside agencies in order to develop interdependency and sustain positive change. The workshops offer a combination of both group based provision and signposting to appropriate services in order to provide a holistic approach.

 
M&O’s various ‘Parenting Courses’ are facilitated by fully experienced Parent Coaches. Parenting courses are for parents who would like to strengthen and develop their parenting skills. Courses are run in small groups (maximum 12 attendees), to maintain individual input and support.  Group courses allow parents to meet other parents who may be facing similar challenges and provides space for parents to have a sounding board and share tips. Courses run for 2 to 3hrs weekly for 11 to 14wks (with breaks for Half Terms). 

Each course involves structured and practical sessions which cover various topics such as; setting clear boundaries, establishing household rules, delegating responsibilities, managing challenging behaviour and supporting your child’s learning.  Courses available include; Incredible Years - Webster Stratton (School Age Basic), Parenting Your Teen In Manchester, Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (3-16yrs). Specific tools and strategies are shared each week with the parents and handouts are provided for parents to take home. There are also opportunities in the sessions to rehearse how to use these tools in order to make them work for them.

Through attending a M&O parenting course, parent/carers confidence can be increased, parent/child relationships improved, parent/carer’s ability to safeguard their children strengthened, inappropriate discipline reduced, positive communication developed, interdependency and empowerment of parent/carers cultivated, leading to sustained change.
Whilst attending the parenting course, Parent/Carers receive a combination of group-based provision, 1-1 support through coaching (telephone contact) and signposting to appropriate services in order to provide a holistic approach.
